N'KISI |
N'Kisi is a parrot around six years old now, but the previous conversation occurred when it was much younger. It now has a vocabulary of over 950 words and knows the difference between past, present and future verb tenses. |
Aimee Morgana, N'Kisi's owner, is an artist living in New York City. Rather than assuming that N'Kisi could only mimic human speech (repeat what people said), she tried to teach N'Kisi to speak like it was a small child.
In the picture, Aimee is teaching N'Kisi vocabulary using flash cards.
N'Kisi species lives as long as humans - generally 50 years. Some species of parrots can live as long as 100 years.
Once when N'Kisi saw a picture of a man with his head out the window of a car, he said:
"Uh-oh, careful, you put your head out."
Below are two comments of other photos he has seen.
