Family Photos - Luke
Luke is an African grey parrot that I adoped June 16, 2004. He was born on January 24, 2004 at the Birds International, Inc. facilities in Quezon City, Philippines. Now he's a permanent resident of Taipei.
I've heard that African greys begin to talk at between 12 and 18 months, but Luke said his first words after 10 months. (He's my boy! He's a smart bird!) His first words were "Poop on the paper!" Too bad he doesn't always follow his own advice.
Luke talks a lot now. Here are some of the things he says:
  "Hi, Luke." "I like Luke."
  "Hi, Sam." "I like Sam."
"How are you?" "What's your name?"
"Mickey, no! " "I'll put you in your cage!"
  "Luke, no-o-o-o-o. " "Good morning. "
"I like you." "No-o-o-o-o, Luke. Poop on the pa-a-a-a-per."

African greys can live for 50-70 years.
