Luke
is an African grey parrot that I adoped June 16, 2004. He was born
on January 24, 2004 at the Birds International, Inc. facilities in
Quezon City, Philippines. Now he's a permanent resident of Taipei. |
I've
heard that African greys begin to talk at between 12 and 18 months,
but Luke said his first words after 10 months. (He's my boy! He's
a smart bird!) His first words were "Poop on the paper!"
Too bad he doesn't always follow his own advice. |
Luke
talks a lot now. Here are some of the things he says: |
|
"Hi,
Luke." |
"I
like Luke." |
|
|
"Hi,
Sam." |
"I
like Sam." |
|
|
"How
are you?" |
"What's your name?" |
|
|
"Mickey,
no! " |
"I'll
put you in your cage!" |
|
|
"Luke,
no-o-o-o-o. " |
"Good
morning. " |
|
|
"I
like you." |
"No-o-o-o-o,
Luke. Poop on the pa-a-a-a-per." |
|

|
African
greys can live for 50-70 years. |
